North Avenue MBC believes salvation is a gift from Christ Jesus

Salvation is thru Jesus Christ alone

“The wages sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom 5:6-21.

“God is on one side and all people are on the other side, and Christ Jesus is between them to bring them together, by giving His life for all mankind.”  I Tim 2:5

God has already done His part to restore our relationship to Him.  He took the initiative.  Now he waits for each of us to accept what He has done.

WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?

1. ADMIT that we are sinners. (People who have rebelled against the will of GOD.)

“…For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

2. ACKNOWLEDGE that we cannot save ourselves. There is a gulf that separates us from God; it is sin. Christ’s death on the cross bridges that gulf.

“Jesus said to him I am the way and the truth and the life: no one comes to the father but though me.” John 14:6 All of our works are as filthy rags before God. Isaiah 64:6

3. ASK Jesus to come into our lives as Savior and Lord. Repenting from our sins, which is turning from our sinful lives to lives, which honors Christ.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38

”Repent then, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19

4. ACCEPT Jesus’ gift of eternal life and be baptized.

“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ: Galatians 3:27

‘And now what are you waiting for?  Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name.” Acts 22:16

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4

YOU CAN TAKE THESE STEPS BY PRAYING A SIMPLE PRAYER OF COMMITMENT TO GOD AND BY FOLLOWING JESUS’ COMMAND TO BE BAPTIZED:

“Dear Jesus, thank you for making me and loving me, even when I’ve ignored you and gone my own way.  I realize I need you in my life and I’m sorry for my sins.  I ask you to forgive me.  Thank you for dying on the cross for me.  Please help me to understand this more.  As much as I know how I want to follow you from now on. Please come into my life and make me a new person.  I accept your gift of sacrifice and ask for your lordship in my life.  Please help me to grow now as your child. AMEN”

Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
